Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi met Thursday with Helmut Panke, chairman of the Board of Management of Germany-based BMW AG.
Wu praised the cooperation between BMW and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Limited, based in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, where the two sides will soon establish a joint venture.
Wu said such cooperation will help the development of China's auto industry and the rejuvenation of China's old industrial areas.
Panke said it is a long-term strategy of BMW to develop business in China. He said he hoped more cooperation with China would follow.
