Anti-war Protesters in Sydney Clash with Police

About 2,000 students in Sydney on Wednesday held demonstrations of protest against the war in Iraq and clashed with the police, the Australian Associated Press reported.

About 2,000 students in Sydney on Wednesday held demonstrations of protest against the war in Iraq and clashed with the police, the Australian Associated Press reported.

The protesters, mainly school students stormed the human barrier formed by police officers and threw chairs from a nearby cafe, as well as rocks, bottles, eggs, firecrackers and marbles. The student protesters burned at least three American flags and held up traffic in George Street, the main street in Sydney.

Students from Sydney University and the University of Technology Sydney estimated at 1,000, marched separately, chanting"one, two, three, four, we don't want your racist war."
