Yao Scores Double Figures while Rockets Narrowly Miss Victory

Chinese star Yao Ming pulled off double-double but the Houston Rockets lost to the Sacramento Kings 109-108 on Sunday.

The 2.26-meter center had 11 points and hauled down 19 reboundswhile his team mate Steve Francis had 38 points for the Rockets, who slipped back into a tie with Phoenix for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Chris Webber had 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Kings who secure a playoff berth with the victory.

Mike Bibby added 23 points for the Kings, who won their fourth straight game to improve to 50-21, second best record in the NBA.

In San Antonio, Tim Duncan had 27 points and 17 rebounds as theSpurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the fourth time this season,downing the three-time defending NBA champions 98-89.

Shaquille O'Neal, who didn't play in two of the games between the Western Conference rivals this season, scored 32 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant added 31 points and nine rebounds, but nobody else on the Lakers could make it into double-figures.

In Cleveland, Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 29 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 93-88 win over the New Jersey Nets whose lead in the Atlantic Division was cut to a half-game.

In Toronto, Philadelphia snapped a two-game losing streak as Allan Iverson scored 32 points to lead the 76ers to a 112-95 win over the Raptors.

In Miami, Tracy McGrady scored 37 points and had a career-high seven 3-pointers as the Orlando Magic beat the Miami Heat 96-74.

Miami lost nine of the last 11 games.

In Auburn Hills, Detroit Pistons clinched a 105-82 win over Chicago Bulls, who were defeated seven times in a row on the road and are just 3-34 away from home this season.

In Oakland, Gary Arenas scored 41 points to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Washington Wizards 113-107.

The victory helps Warriors move to within two and a half games of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Michael Jordan scored 24 points for the Wizards, who have lost three straight.
