South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun on Monday excluded speculation that Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will be the next target of US military action.

In a meeting attended by his senior aid and advisors, Roh Moo-hyun instructed his aides to clear up any guess and worries of the public about such an impossible US strike on the DPRK, according to a report from the Yonhap News.

Noting that rumors are circulating the United States may consider strikes on the DPRK after Iraq, Roh stressed, "I met a US government official in a responsible position on a number of occasions and was told that the DPRK is different from Iraq and (the nuclear issue) should be resolved peacefully." But he did not disclose the US official's name.

The president also called for cautious media reports on the thing so as to avoid arousing public panic.
