South Korea won a narrow-margined victory over Denmark in the semi-finals of the eighth Sudirman Cup here on Saturday evening, earning the other ticket in the final title clash.
The South Koreans won over Denmark 3-2 through five matches in the five-hour-long confrontation.
South Korea won the mixed doubles in the first match, but that was followed by two consecutive defeats due to increasingly strong smashes from the Danish players in the women's singles and men's doubles. The Danes had to fight an uphill fight in the women's doubles in order to qualify for the finals.
In the women's doubles, players from both countries adopted the strategy of playing safe, thus prolonging the match. South Korean players Kyung Min Ra and Kyung Kyung Won Lee won the match by 2-1.
Danish player Peter Gade said that he was not in expected shapewhile on court, adding to the probability of making errors and even mistakes. He blamed an aching stomach for his not-so-well performance.
South Korea will play China, winners of another semi-final, in the final here on Sunday.
