About 50 Iraqis were killed Saturday during air raids on the southern Iraqi city of Basra, the Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV channel reported.

About 50 Iraqis were killed Saturday during air raids on the southern Iraqi city of Basra, the Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV channel reported.

The Al Arabia TV channel reported earlier that fierce battles were going on between invading US troops and the Iraqi army on the borders of Basra.
