The ferris wheel is expected to be completed by the end of April and operating on May 1, according to the Harbin amusement park where it is being built.
The ferris wheel, costing 20 million yuan (2.42 million US dollars), will hold 378 visitors and take 20 minutes to turn a full circle.
Visitors would be able to enjoy views of the whole city from the ferris wheel, the amusement park source said.
At 135 meters, the world's highest ferris wheel is located in London and the world's fifth highest, in Japan, is 2.5 meters higher than the Harbin model.
