Security has been strengthened at the Macao International Airport since the US-led military attack on Iraq Thursday.
The local security department said security in major tourist spots and port areas has also been intensified.
Local analysts said Macao's economy would not be seriously affected if the war can be ended within a month, otherwise Macao'sexport and cargo transport business would suffer badly, since 40 percent of the Macao Special Administrative Region's (SAR) exportsgo to the US market.
Many exporters here have expressed their worries that the war would grieve the anticipation of the Asia's overall manufacturing business in the third and fourth quarters.
Although the local tourist market has remained unaffected, the outbound traveling has an obvious slowdown, which is expected to fall by half over the corresponding period of last year.
The outbound tourism business in the coming Easter Festival in April is expected to be 20 percent lower than that of last year, according to the forecast of local tourist agencies.
So far, the market has been steady, except commodities related to oil imports under the pressure of a continuous price increase.
