US B-52 Bombers Based at RAF Fairford Primed for Gulf

US B-52 bombers based at Britain's RAF Fairford base have started their engines ahead of a possible attack on Iraq, The Sky News reported on Friday.

At least two US B52 bombers based at Britain's RAF Fairford base on Friday were seen taking off for the Gulf region ahead of a possible attack on Iraq, The Sky News reported on Friday.

But a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defense refused to confirm the report.

Fourteen long-range B-52 bombers have been deployed at Fairford, in Gloucester shire, southwest of England.

Fairford is around six hours flying time from Iraq.
