Iraqi Minister Urges People to Stand Steadfast

Iraqi Information Minister MohamedSaid Al-Sahaf Thursday morning urged the Iraqi people to stand steadfast and rally behind Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Iraqi Information Minister MohamedSaid Al-Sahaf Thursday morning urged the Iraqi people to stand steadfast and rally behind Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

This was Iraq's first official reaction to the US air strikes onIraqi sites which began on Thursday.

"This day will be long remembered in the history of Iraq as the day when Allah honored the Iraqis with Jihad," said Al-Sahaf in a radio address.
