China's New Cabinet Holds Executive Meeting

The State Council, China's Cabinet, held an executive meeting Wednesday, discussing its working principles, the setup of departments, offices and special organizations under it, and some other issues.

The State Council, China's Cabinet, held an executive meeting Wednesday, discussing its working principles, the setup of departments, offices and special organizations under it, and some other issues.

It was the first such meeting after the new Cabinet was approved by the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress which ended here Tuesday.

The meeting, presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, passed in principle draft working principles of the State Council and decided to submit the draft to the upcoming first plenary meeting of the State Council for further discussion and approval.

The meeting also listed seven issues as the new government's top priorities at the present stage, respectively on the State Council's institutional reforms, macro-economic control, economic reforms, rectification of market order, the maintenance of social security, anti-corruption campaigns and social assistance for the disadvantaged.
