US warplanes bombed Iraqi targets after aircraft patrolling the southern no-fly zone in west Iraq were fired on by Iraqi air defense forces.

The reports quoted Real Admiral John Kelly as saying that the US warplanes were from the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf.
