Chinese President Calls for Dialogues between US, DPRK

The key to resolving the nuclear issue in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is to launch dialogues as soon as possible, especially between the United States and the DPRK, said Chinese President Hu Jintao Tuesday night.

The key to resolving the nuclear issue in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is to launch dialogues as soon as possible, especially between the United States and the DPRK, said Chinese President Hu Jintao Tuesday night.

During a phone conversation with his US counterpart George W. Bush, Hu said that China has always stood for keeping the Korean Peninsula nuclear-free, maintaining its peace and stability, and solving problems through dialogues.

Hu said that the key to the issue now is to launch dialogues incertain forms as soon as possible, especially between the United States and the DPRK.

In the meantime, actions that will escalate the situation should not be taken, he said.
