Wu Bangguo Meets Hong Kong, Macao NPC Deputies
Wu Bangguo, the newly-elected Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) met Tuesday with NPC deputies from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions (SARs).

Wu said he was highly impressed by the performance and contributions of the Hong Kong and Macao deputies at the first session of the 10th National People's Congress that closed in Beijing Tuesday.
The NPC deputies in Hong Kong and Macao have played an important role in local economic and social development since both regions returned to the motherland, he said.
Wu hoped that Hong Kong and Macao deputies would continue to contribute to the stability and prosperity of local society and supporting the work of the SAR governments by performing their duties to the best of their abilities.
The Hong Kong and Macao deputies were expected to do their bestto carry out the basic laws of both SARs and abide by the principle of "one country, two systems," Wu said.
