China's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.2 percent year-on-year in February, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced Thursday.
According to the NBS, the CPI in urban areas rose 0.2 percent over the same month of last year, while the CPI in rural areas climbed 0.3 percent.
In a monthly report released on Thursday, the NBS said the February CPI was 0.9 percent higher than in January. The CPI for the first two months of the year was 0.3 percent higher than in the same period of last year.
In February, the prices of consumer goods dropped 0.2 percent over the same month of last year. Meanwhile, the prices of service and foodstuffs rose 1.5 percent and 1.8 percent respectively. The prices of non-food goods dropped 0.6 percent.
