Beijing to Improve Investment Environment
Beijing will spare no efforts to establish a service-oriented and efficient government so as to attract more foreign investment, Mayor Meng Xuenong has promised.

In a meeting with representatives of transnational corporations, Meng vowed to create a highly market-oriented and well-ordered investment environment.
Measures would be taken to optimize the investment environment of the city, he said.
The new measures include changing of work styles and setting upunified standards for services.
The government will deal with administrative affairs openly and transparently.
Symposiums and hearings would be held to collect opinions from across society, according to the mayor.
The municipal government would also clean up administrative inspections and eliminate illegitimate charges.
Other efforts to improve the investment environment included the implementation of a transparent and unified policy for different investors and accelerating transformation of governmental functions.
