CPPCC Session Holds Plenary Meeting to Elect New Leadership

The First Session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) started its the fourth plenary meeting Thursday afternoon, at which new leadership for the top advisory body is due to be elected.

The First Session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) started its the fourth plenary meeting Thursday afternoon, at which new leadership for the top advisory body is due to be elected.

The leadership will include chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and Standing Committee members.

At a meeting Wednesday, the presidium of the First Session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee adopted a namelist of candidates, including one for the post of chairman, 24 for vice-chairmen, one for secretary-general, and 299 Standing Committee members.

According to the procedures for elections, the chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and Standing Committee members of the 10th National Committee of the CPPCC will be elected from the equal number of candidates by secret ballots. The candidates only need a single majority.
