New CPPCC Leadership to be Elected

The new leadership for the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will be elected Thursday afternoon at the fourth plenary meeting of the national advisory body's annual session in Beijing.

The new leadership for the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will be elected Thursday afternoon at the fourth plenary meeting of the national advisory body's annual session in Beijing.

The leadership will include chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and Standing Committee members.

At a meeting Wednesday, the presidium of First Session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee adopted a namelist of candidates, including one for the post of chairman, 24 for vice-chairmen, one for secretary-general and 299 Standing Committee members.

According to the procedures for elections, the chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary-general and Standing Committee members of the 10th National Committee of the CPPCC will be elected from the equal number of candidates by secret ballots. The candidates only need a single majority.
