Candidates for CPPCC Leadership Finalized

The Presidium of the first session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its third session Wednesday, passing the list of candidates for the chairman, 24 vice-chairmen and the secretary general of the 10th CPPCC National Committee, which has been discussed by all members of the CPPC National Committee.

The Presidium of the first session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its third session Wednesday, passing the list of candidates for the chairman, 24 vice-chairmen and the secretary general of the 10th CPPCC National Committee, which has been discussed by all members of the CPPC National Committee.

The session, which was presided over by Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Presidium, also approved the list of 299 candidates for the Standing Committee of the 10th CPPCC National Committee.

The lists will be put to voting at the plenary meeting of the first session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee scheduled for Thursday.

The lists were proposed by the CPC Central Committee based on extensive consultations, according to Liu Yandong, director of the United Front Department of the CPC Central Committee, who reported on the discussions of the draft lists.

The meeting also approved a list of 54 balloting scrutineers.

Attending the meeting were executive chairmen of the Presidium Wang Zhongyu, Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme, Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, Li Guixian, Zhang Siqing, Ding Guangxun, Henry Ying Tung Fok, Ma Man Kei, Bai Lichen, Luo Haocai, Zhang Kehui and Zhou Tienong.
