Shenzhen Port Reports Foreign Trade Surge

The total exports and imports through south China's Shenzhen port surged more than 50 percent year-on-year in the January-February period, according to Shenzhen customs.

The total exports and imports through south China's Shenzhen port surged more than 50 percent year-on-year in the January-February period, according to Shenzhen customs.

According to customs statistics, the foreign trade volume at Shenzhen port totaled 19.158 billion US dollars in the first two months of the year.

Exports reached 10.269 billion US dollars, up 45.4 percent, and imports stood at 8.89 billion US dollars, up 57.8 percent, with a favorable trade balance of 1.379 billion US dollars.

In February, the exported and imported goods through the port totaled 8.571 billion US dollars, rising 55.1 percent over the same period last year.

Shenzhen port's handling capacity accounts for one seventh of the country's overall foreign trade volume.
