World biggest aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced recently its new-generation jet Boeing 7E7, which is aimed at becoming the most efficient and economic craft on the world market to keep the company an upper hand over its rival Airbus.

To promote the new craft Boeing's vice executive Randy Baseler and director of product and service Randy Tinseth will fly to China next Monday to introduce 7E7 to Chinese aviation companies, and listen to advices and suggestions from China's clients on details of design.

As learned, 7E7 looks like a smaller 777 and has a speed equal to that of Boeing's current large jets. With a range about 13,875 kilometers and a capacity for 200-250 passengers, 7E7 is very suitable for trans-Pacific routes and long distance feeder lines. The "E" stands for economy, efficiency, environment and excitement, and 7E7 could meet the requirements for medium-sized, economic long-distance crafts. Almost tailored for Asian market, it could help save cost for air companies and time for passengers.

The putout of 7E7 signals that Boeing has laid aside its plan of "Sonic Cruiser", craft launched in March 2001 to rival the Airbus' large passenger plane A380. With a same passenger capacity with 7E7, the Sonic Cruiser flies at a speed some 15 to 20 percent faster than current civil jets. Designed for business travelers, it covers a passage of 12000 to 16700 kilometers, and save an hour for every 4800 kilometers as compared with current craft.

China to take 10 percent of global 7E7 demand
Boeing plans to put 7E7 onto market in 2008 as a weapon to defend its position as world No 1 craft producer. As reported, in coming 20 years there will be a demand of 3000 such planes worldwide.

Boeing is optimistic about the prospect of its 7E7 on Chinese market, which will, according to the company's latest market report, become the biggest aviation market outside the US in 20 years to come. Between 2002 and 2021, China will be in need of 1912 new planes, or 10 percent of the global demand, with a total value as high as 165 billion US dollars.

Currently China has altogether 625 passenger jets, including 406 from Boeing, taking up 65 percent market shares.
