China Becomes World's Second Biggest Diamond Polisher

China has emerged as the world's biggest diamond polisher after India, with the industry set to see sparking growth thanks to the country��s economic boom.

China has emerged as the world's biggest diamond polisher after India, with the industry set to see sparking growth thanks to the country's economic boom.

Chairman of the China Diamond Manufacturers Association, Guo Zhiyue, says the country now has over 18,000 diamond polishing factories. The number is expected to reach 21,000 by the end of the year.

He says Shanghai and the provinces of Guangdong and Shandong have become China's major diamond polishing centres, and they all employ advanced polishing techniques.

Official sources say some Indian business houses in the diamond polishing industry have relocated to or opened units in south China in recent months due to the favourable work atmosphere in the country. (CRI News)
