China's unremitting efforts in thelast five years have paid off in the development of high-tech weapons, with a number of the weapons delivered for service, said Director Liu Jibin of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense Sunday.
Many of these weapons are up to the advanced international levels in both technical contents and functions that boost the battle effectiveness of the People's Liberation Army, said Liu, who is here attending the on-going annual session of the country's legislature, the National People's Congress.
But Liu did not elaborate.
The commission, established in 1998, has made great progress in the application of military technology in civilian production such as nuclear power production, civil aviation and space and shipbuilding.
Liu said that in the first 20 years of the 21st century, China's R&D of some weapons will reach or approach advanced international standards.
