The Information Office of the State Council is to release a white paper on ecological improvement and environmental protection in Tibet on Monday, according to sources with the office.

The white paper will give people a better knowledge about China's Tibet Autonomous Region, sources said, noting that it will present the progress for over half a century and the status quo of ecological improvement and environmental protection in Tibet and help clarify some people's understanding.

The white paper will consist of five parts, respectively on the progress of ecological improvement and environmental protection work in Tibet, ecological improvement and biodiversity protection, ecological improvement and environmental protection amid economic development, building an ecology-friendly railway line -- the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, and the strategic choice for sustainable development, sources said.

It will be the fifth white paper on Tibet released by the Chinese Government since 1992.
