New Leaders of CPC Attend NPC Group Discussions
New leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) respectively attended panel discussions of the on-going first session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's national legislature, Saturday afternoon in Beijing.

These new Party leaders are Hu Jintao, general secretary of CPC Central Committee, and Zeng Qinghong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Committee, Huang Ju, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, and Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
As March 8th is the International Women's Day, Hu Jintao extended his congratulatory festival greetings to the women NPC deputies and women members of the National Committee of the 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the masses of women across the country.
In his remarks at a panel discussion of NPC deputies from east China's Jiangsu province, Hu urged substantial efforts be made to accelerate economic growth in China's booming eastern areas while stepping up development in the mid-western region, especially in those areas where relevant conditions permit.
Sitting amid NPC deputies from eastern Zhejiang province in their group discussion, Zeng Qinghong encouraged Zhejiang to lead other provinces in its modernization endeavor and turning itself into a relatively affluent region in an all-round way. He also urged fostering a sound structural mechanism, as well as good cultural, social environment.
While addressing a group discussion of NPC deputies from north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Huang Ju called for tapping regional advantages, reinforcing infrastructural construction and further improving ecological environment in the course of China's West Development Drive. Inner Mongolia, he added, should pursue a road of sustainable growth with harmonious relations between its ecological environment and economic, social development, he said.
During a group discussion of NPC deputies from north China's Shanxi province, Wu Guanzheng said hard blows should be given to overcome unhealthy tendencies detrimental to the interests of the ordinary people, also vowing to carry on the fight against corruption and strive to build a clean and honest regional government.
Meanwhile, at a group discussion of NPC deputies from central Henan province, Li Changchun said, in carrying forward the guidelines of the 16th CPC Congress held in November last year, the crux of the matter is to proceed from reality, keep pace with the times and go on exploring so that the utmost efforts would be made in materializing the prime mission of invigorating the nation and building a fairly affluent society in China in an all-round way.
