US officials said Friday that they do not believe Pakistani reports that two sons of Osama bin Laden have been captured in Afghanistan.

The officials said they are still investigating the reports from news media quoting a Pakistani official, but do not believe it is accurate.

"It's not true," a US official said on condition of anonymity. "We have absolutely no information to substantiate that."

Meanwhile, officials from the Pakistani Interior Ministry also said they are not aware of any arrests.

Some US and British news media quote a provincial minister in Pakistan's southwest province of Baluchistan as saying that two sons of Osama bin Laden were arrested in a joint US-Pakistani operation in the Rabat area, where the borders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran meet.
