Feasibility Report on Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge Approved by the State Council

Ever since the State Council approved the filing of the project for the construction of Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge it has drawn high attention from overseas financing organizations due to the huge 10.7bn yuan investment. The planned bridge will be viewed as the world longest cross-sea bridge and also the first one independently built by local governments along China's southern-northern coasts.

Ever since the State Council approved the filing of the project for the construction of Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge it has drawn high attention from overseas financing organizations due to the huge 10.7bn yuan investment. The planned bridge will be viewed as the world longest cross-sea bridge and also the first one independently built by local governments along China's southern-northern coasts.

The State Council has recently confirmed the feasibility study report on the cross-sea bridge through deliberation at a Premier's working meeting. This marked the project, of strategic significance to the economic and social development of the whole Yangtze River Delta, phased to designing and construction preparations.

When completed, the bridge will extend some 36km, with a total investment of 10.7bn yuan. Following the establishment last April, the project, after examined by the State Development Planning Commission, was later submitted to the State Council for approval.

So far, the project has cost over 0.16mn yuan, with conditions for construction being basically in place such as water, electricity, communications, docks and construction sites. Now the Ningbo municipal government is going all out for an early start of the construction.
