Israel to Pay 'Heavy Price' for Killing Palestinians: Hamas
The militant Palestinian organization Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) vowed Thursday that Israel would pay a "heavy price" for the latest killings committed in GazaStrip in retaliation for a suicide bombing.
The militant Palestinian organization Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) vowed Thursday that Israel would pay a "heavy price" for the latest killings committed in GazaStrip in retaliation for a suicide bombing.
A total of 11 Palestinians were killed and 160 others wounded in the northern Gaza Strip refugee camp of Jabalya, where Israeli tanks and armor vehicles launched a six-hour predawn blitz Thursday.
"Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz had committed a stupidity in Jabalya and the Israelis would pay a heavy price for that," warned Isma'eel Abu Shanab, a senior Hamas leader in Gaza.
The Israeli raids were launched in retaliation for the Wednesday suicide bombing on a bus in the northern port city of Haifa, in which 15 Israelis were killed and 40 others injured.
No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing attack, but Israeli police identified the suicide bomber as a Hamas member from the West Bank city of Hebron.
Abu Shanab vowed to revenge for the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip, indicating Hamas militants will carry out more attacks against Israel in response.
"The operation in Jabalya was committed after both Mofaz and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided to commit it. They would be totally responsible for the coming reaction to the awful massacre in Jabalya," he said.
Hamas militants have been carrying out suicide bombings in Israeli public places such as buses, open markets and shopping malls in the past years in their armed struggle against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
