Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji Thursday expressed his hope that Chinese people from all ethnic groups would, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Hu Jintao as general secretary, make persistent efforts for a brighter future in China.

Attending a panel discussion with deputies from central China's Hunan Province to the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress, Zhu said the government made remarkable achievements, overcame many difficulties and risks, and accumulated lots of good experience over the past five years.

"All these are really hard-earned," said Zhu, expressing gratitude to all regions and departments for their strong support to the government's work.
