China strongly condemned the terrorist bombing in the Philippines, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said Thursday.

In response to a question about China's reaction to the serious terrorist bombing in Davao of the Philippines, which resulted in over 100 deaths and casualties, Kong said that "the Chinese government opposes all forms of terrorist activities."

"We were shocked by the latest serious terrorist bombing in the southern Philippines," Kong said. "As a friendly neighboring nation of the Philippines, China strongly condemn such a terrorist action."

He said that foreign minister Tang Jiaxuan had called Blas F. Ople, minister of foreign affairs of the Philippines, to offer China's condolences and sympathy to the victims and their relatives.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan sent a message to his Philippine counterpart Blas Ople on Thursday, expressing sympathy to the victims of a terrorist bombing in the southern Philippine city of Davao.

In the message, Tang said he was shocked to learn that the city of Davao was hit by a deadly terrorist bombing, which caused great casualties.

The Chinese government strongly condemns all forms of terrorism, and will continue to support the unremitting efforts of the Philippine government to fight against terrorism and safeguard its national stability.

At least 21 people were killed and more than 100 others injured Tuesday in a deadly bomb attack at the Davao International Airport.
