Nearly 500 girl students at elementary and middle schools Wednesday received donated clothes in Bachu County, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China. The county was hit by massive earthquake on Feb. 24.

The 1,100 down jackets worth 400,000 yuan (50,000 US dollars) come from the All-China Women's Federation and Children's Foundation of China.

Many of the girls had lost relatives in the earthquake, said local officials, adding that the rest of the clothes would be sentto children in other quake-hit villages as soon as possible.

The devastating earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale, jolted Jiashi and Bachu counties, leaving more than260 people dead.
