CRCS Raises 11.4 Million Yuan in Fund, Supplies for Quake-hit Area

The China Red Cross Society (CRCS) has raised relief fund and supplies worth 11.4 million yuan (1.38 million US dollars) for the earthquake-stricken area in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to CRCS statistics.

The China Red Cross Society (CRCS) has raised relief fund and supplies worth 11.4 million yuan (1.38 million US dollars) for the earthquake-stricken area in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to CRCS statistics.

Fund and supplies worth about 7.3 million yuan (0.88 million US dollars) have already reached the affected residents, through the Xinjiang Red Cross Society.

Delegations from the CRCS and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have concluded visits to the earthquake-hit area, CRCS sources said.

The devastating earthquake on Feb. 24 caused 268 deaths and left thousands homeless.
