All Delegations of NPC Deputies Arrive for Session
Preparations have been completed for the impending First Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, and all the 35 delegations of NPC deputies have arrived in Beijing for the session, sources with the session's secretariat said Sunday.
Preparations have been completed for the impending First Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, and all the 35 delegations of NPC deputies have arrived in Beijing for the session, sources with the session's secretariat said Sunday.
The 10th NPC, which will begin its first session Wednesday morning, has a total of 2,985 deputies. Altogether 2,984 of them will be attending the session as one deputy died of illness.
Apart from hearing and deliberating a report on government work,deputies attending this NPC session will also elect China's new state and government leaders, and discuss and approve a program for a new round of institutional reform of the State Council, the Chinese cabinet.
According to sources with departments concerned, all arrangements have been ready for the reception and accommodation of the deputies, collection of their motions and media coverage. At the main venue for the session, the Great Hall of the People, equipment has been installed and modulated for simultaneous interpretation for ethnic minority deputies.
