Death Toll of Xinjiang Earthquake Rises to 268

The number of deaths in "February 24" earthquake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has by now risen to 246, and a total of 2,058 people were seriously injured, according to latest statistics.

The number of deaths in "February 24" earthquake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has by now risen to 246, and a total of 2,058 people were seriously injured, according to latest statistics.

In Bachu County 267 people died, and one died in Maigaiti County, with some 4,000 people injured and 38,259 heads of livestock died in the earthquake affected zone.

Latest news showed that the earthquake collapsed 36,562 residents' houses in the whole Kash region, leaving 77,677 rooms unsafe, and damaged 103 schools and 16 health centers.
