Russian Foreign Minister Begins China Visit

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov who arrived in Beijing Wednesday evening on an official visit to China said he planned to discuss urgent regional and international issues with the Chinese side.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov who arrived here Wednesday evening on an official visit to China said he planned to discuss urgent regional and international issues with the Chinese side.

Ivanov said at Beijing's international airport he would also discuss with the Chinese side the timetable for high-level political meetings between the two countries.

During his stay in Beijing, the Russian foreign minister is expected to meet with Chinese leaders and hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.

The two sides are expected to exchange views on China-Russia relations, the Iraq issue, the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and other issues of common concern.
