China Red Cross Opens Donation Account to Aid Quake Victims
The China Red Cross Society (CRCS)has set up a special bank account to accept donations in aid of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region after it was hit by a major earthquake that killed 279 locals and injured thousands.

The account with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China will accept donations from both at home and overseas. The account number is 02000010090144132-52.
The China Red Cross Society has also opened a 24-hour hotline for donations with the number 086-01065139999 (working round the clock).
After a devastating quake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted the area approximately 40 kilometers east of Jiashi county at 10:03 a.m. Monday (Beijing time), the Red Cross donated 250,000 yuan (30,000 US dollars) to its Xinjiang branch Monday.
A disaster-relief team has been sent by the Red Cross to the area, with large quantities of winter clothes, quilts and other essential relief materials worth 200,000 yuan (24,000 US dollars) from the Xinjiang Red Cross Society.
