No Foreigners Killed, Injured in Xinjiang Quake

There have been no reports of deaths or injuries of foreigners in the devastating earthquake in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Monday morning, relief officials said Tuesday.

There have been no reports of deaths or injuries of foreigners in the devastating earthquake in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Monday morning, relief officials said Tuesday.

No foreign tourists or foreign scholars or experts working in Xinjiang were killed or injured in the 6.8-degree quake, accordingto reports received so far Tuesday, said sources with the office of the Communist Party of China Kashi Prefectural Committee.

No compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, or overseas Chinese were killed or injured in the quake that struck Jiashi and Bachu counties on Monday, reports have shown.

Rescue efforts are going on and relief materials were continuing to arrive in the disaster areas by press time.
