Turkish parliament will debate US troops deployment on its soil on Tuesday, according to the Turkish Milliyet (National) newspaper on Saturday.
Prime Minister Abdullah Gul was quoted as saying "the council of ministers will meet Monday" to ask parliament to approve the motion which allows US forces to be deployed on Turkish soil in the event of war against neighboring Iraq.
Ankara and Washington have been bargaining over the size of compensation for losses that a war might inflict to the already crisis-stricken Turkish economy.
Unsatisfied with the US offer, Turkey has delayed the vote on the motion of permitting US troops in, which had originally been scheduled for earlier this week.
Washington has offered Ankara a six-billion-dollar grant, and a 20-billion-dollar loan to offset the war damage on the Turkish economy.
Yet Turkey is worried about possible effects of a war in Iraq since its losses in the 1991 Gulf war were merely recouped.
It also fears the independence of a Kurdish state in northern Iraq in the post-Saddam era will fan trouble in its southern border where Kurdish men are most populated.
