Police in southwest China's
Sichuan
Province seized 1,010 grams of pure heroin and two suspected drug dealers in a recent operation.
A spokesperson with the Public Security Bureau at Meishan City said both suspects, one surnamed Li and the other surnamed Wang, were residents in Pengshan County in rural areas of the city.
They were caught red-handed when trading heroin in a tea house in the city, according to the spokesperson.
The case was still under investigation.
Li came to the attention of police in Pengshan in 2000 when he was suspected of selling drugs, but was not convicted due to lack of evidence.
Under Chinese law, a drug dealer may face the death sentence if convicted of smuggling 50 grams of heroin or more.
