US and British warplanes attacked civilian targets in western Iraq on Tuesday, an Iraqi Air Defense Command spokesman said.
The coalition warplanes coming from Kuwait flew over the so-called "no-fly" zone and bombed Iraqi "civil and service installations" in Al-Anbar province, west of Baghdad, the official INA news agency quoted the spokesman as saying.
The warplanes left Iraq's airspace and retreated to their bases in Kuwait, the spokesman added.
Local analysts said US and British warplanes have frequently attacked Iraqi missile sites over the past few days to pave the wayfor a possible military action against Iraq.
