China-ROK Partnership Key to Peace on Korean Peninsula: Qian
A good cooperative partnership between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) is vital to the peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen told an envoy of ROK's incoming President Roh Moo-hyun.

China is glad to see that Roh has announced he will continue the policy of reconciliation and cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), which was proposed and implemented by incumbent president Kim Dae-jung, Qian said while meeting with envoy Lee Hae-chan here Wednesday.
Maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula is in the interests of the ROK and the DPRK, and is also supported by neighboring countries including China, Qian said.
Lee Hae-chan briefed Qian on the internal and external policiesof the ROK's incoming government, saying the president-elect attaches great importance to promoting the ROK-China partnership.
He said the ROK would continue to play an active role in the peaceful settlement of the current DPRK nuclear issue.
Qian reiterated that China supports the denuclearization of thepeninsula and insists that the issue should be peacefully resolvedthrough dialogue.
China has always promoted peace and dialogue and welcomes all efforts in that direction, he said.
