Courts in the Chinese capital have well adapted to international trends on intellectual property rights (IPR) protection, reported Monday edition of the China Daily.
Wang Zhenming, Vice-President of Beijing Higher People's Court was quoted by the paper as saying the courts have strengthened efficiency and justice while judges have been more professional and confident in the past year, first year after China became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Wang attributed the success of the courts to the relatively complete legislation on IPR, their solid preparation before the nation joined the WTO at the end of 2001 and their adaptability to international trends.
Beijing courts handled 100 more IPR cases in 2002 than in 2001,32 percent over in 2000, the paper said.
The courts have passed key test on judicial protection of IPR in China's first year into WTO, Wang said.
