A top aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat announced Sunday that the Palestinian National Authority (PBA) is ready to resume unconditional peace talks with the Israeli government.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh told reporters the Palestinian leadership is totally ready to hold unconditional talks with Israel for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied towns and cities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

"The Palestinian side has never objected any meetings with Israeli officials," said Abu Rudeineh.

He also accused Israel of blocking peace talks while reoccupyingmost of the West Bank cities.

On Saturday, Arafat said he welcomes the resumption of talks with Israel and the Quartet Committee composed of the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and other Israeli officials have insisted that they will talk with moderate Palestinian leadersrather than Arafat, whom they refuse to recognize as peace partner.

Abu Rudeineh said the Israeli exclusion of Arafat from any negotiations is an Israeli "excuse in order not to get back to the negotiation table."

Israeli "would never find any single Palestinian to negotiate with, without Arafat's approval," he stressed.
