Pakistan Expels Top Indian Envoy, Four Other Diplomats

The Pakistani government Saturday asked Indian acting high commissioner in Islamabad, Sudhir Vyas, and four other diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours.

The Pakistani government Saturday asked Indian acting high commissioner in Islamabad, Sudhir Vyas, and four other diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours.

An Foreign Office statement declared the five Indian diplomats as personae non grata for involvement in activities incompatible with their status.

A report of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said Vikram Misri, counsellor with the Indian high commission was called to the Foreign Ministry on Saturday and received the decision.

The five families, however, have been permitted to leave within seven days, according to the report.

Earlier on Saturday, India directed five Pakistani officials, including the acting high commissioner of Pakistan high commissionin New Delhi to leave India within 48 hours.
