US President George W. Bush on Saturday condemned as a "barbaric act of terrorism" the bombing attack in the Colombian capital city of Bogota that killed at least 25 people.

"I condemn this barbaric act of terrorism. I offer our deepest condolences to the Colombian families and friends of all who were murdered," Bush said in a statement.

"We stand with the Colombian people in their fight against narco terrorists who threaten their democratic way of life," Bush said.

"We will offer all appropriate assistance to the Colombian government in bringing to justice the murderers responsible for this act," he added.

A car bomb exploded in an exclusive club in northern Bogota on Friday night, setting fire to the 10-story building. At least 25 people were killed and more than 150 others injured.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombing. But Colombian and US officials blamed the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia for planting the car bomb.
