Israeli Troops Kill 46 Palestinians in January: Report

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) killed 46 Palestinians in the Palestinian territories in January compared to 45 killed in December, local newspaper Ha'aretz reported on Monday.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) killed 46 Palestinians in the Palestinian territories in January compared to 45 killed in December, local newspaper Ha'aretz reported on Monday.

Among the Palestinians killed in the past month, 17 were non combatants, including four children under the age of ten, an adult over the age of 50 and a mentally retarded person.

The remaining 29 dead were members of armed wings of Palestinianorganizations.

Among them, five of the combatant deaths occurred during attackson Israeli targets both in the territories and within the Green Line (pre-1967 war boder) while 24 others were killed in gun battles with the IDF or during operations conducted by IDF special forces.
