Ethiopian PM Expresses Condolence over US Space Shuttle Tragedy

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has expressed his condolence to US President George W. Bushover the loss of the US space shuttle Columbia, a disaster which cost the lives of seven astronauts, said the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry here on Monday.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has expressed his condolence to US President George W. Bushover the loss of the US space shuttle Columbia, a disaster which cost the lives of seven astronauts, said the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry here on Monday.

Meles said in his message that his government and people sharedthe grief of the international community over the death of the astronauts.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum also sent a message of condolence to US State Secretary Colin Powell.

The space shuttle Columbia, NASA's oldest and heaviest spaceship, broke up in clear blue skies over Texas on Saturday afternoon, minutes before it was due to land in Florida.

The shuttle, which flew its first mission in 1981, carried out some 80 experiments during the mission, which began on Jan. 16.
