Putin Praises FSB Success in Fighting Terrorism
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday praised the country's security agency, known as the FSB, for its excellent performance in fighting terrorism.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday praised the country's security agency, known as the FSB, for its excellent performance in fighting terrorism.
"The Federal Security Service achieved evident successes in cooperation with our foreign allies in the anti-terrorist campaign last year," he said at a meeting with top officials of the FSB, the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB.
He said the FSB had "accumulated ample experience in coordinating operative and information work" with foreign partners.
Putin said the FSB should continue international cooperation infighting terrorism, because "it is not simply a question of security, but a major foreign policy factor which has a significant impact today on Russia's relations with its allies andpartners throughout the world."
He said fighting all manifestations of terrorism remained a prime task of the service.
