China Concerned About Violence in Phnom Penh: Spokeswoman

China is gravely concerned about the violence in Cambodia and hopes the issue can be resolved as soon as possible, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyuesaid Thursday after Cambodian protesters set the Thai Embassy on fire Wednesday in Phnom Penh.

China is gravely concerned about the violence in Cambodia and hopes the issue can be resolved as soon as possible, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyuesaid Thursday after Cambodian protesters set the Thai Embassy on fire Wednesday in Phnom Penh.

Zhang said China was worried about the impact of the violence on relations between Cambodia and Thailand, which are both friendly neighbors of China, and hoped the matter could be settledvery soon.

Some Thai diplomats in Phnom Penh retreated to Thailand on a military plane Thursday.
