Boeing Earns 590 million Dollars in Fourth-quarter of 2002 ����

Boeing Co. on Thursday reportednet earnings of 590 million dollars, or 0.73 dollars per share, onrevenues of 13.7 billion dollars for the fourth-quarter of 2002.

Boeing Co. on Thursday reportednet earnings of 590 million dollars, or 0.73 dollars per share, onrevenues of 13.7 billion dollars for the fourth-quarter of 2002.

The company said its Seattle-based commercial airplane unit managed a 7.1 percent profit margin in the quarter, though deliveries of commercial airplanes decreased 40 percent and revenues fell 32 percent to 6.3 billion dollars.

The military aircraft and missile systems division of Boeing, however, saw operating earnings jump 40 percent to 389 million dollars on revenues of 3.8 billion dollars, up 10 percent.

For the year of 2002, Boeing's net earnings were 492 million dollars, or 61 cents a share, on revenues of 54.1 billion dollars,down from 2.83 billion dollars, or 3.41 dollars a share on revenues of 58.2 billion dollars in 2001.

Boeing's airplane deliveries slid by 28 percent to 381 in 2002 and revenues fell 19 percent.

The aerospace giant cautioned that 2003 revenues will continue to decline sharply as the aviation slump continues.
